Double Red Columbine is a charming herbaceous perennial grown from seed collected from a double-flowered red columbine. Each plant produces elegant, fully double crimson to deep burgundy blooms with soft yellow and white highlights, creating a striking display in late spring and early summer. Because these plants are seed-grown rather than vegetatively propagated, each one is uniquely beautiful while maintaining the classic double-flowered form that makes this strain so distinctive. Their long-lasting blooms attract bees and other beneficial pollinators, making them an outstanding addition to cottage gardens, woodland borders, and perennial landscapes.

Why I Grow It
I grow Double Red Columbine because its rich, double blooms bring an elegance that's difficult to find in other spring-flowering perennials. Since these plants are grown from seed collected from a double-flowered parent, each one has its own unique character while retaining the beautiful form that makes them so special. I enjoy offering plants that are a little different from what you'll typically find at large garden centers, and this columbine fits that vision perfectly. Its beautiful flowers, pollinator value, and dependable perennial nature make it one of my favorite additions to a cottage or woodland garden.

Provide afternoon shade in warmer climates to help prolong flowering.
Remove spent flower stalks after blooming, or allow seed heads to mature if natural reseeding is desired.

Divide mature clumps only when necessary, as columbines generally prefer to remain undisturbed.
